DNS Alias
A DNS alias is when you have multiple domain names pointing at the same
home directory.
For example,
http://www.securewebs.com is a
"root web server" and
http://www.securewebs.us is just a DNS alias. It is nothing
more than a DNS record that points to the same web server. This
can be useful for several reasons. (There is only a one-time setup
fee of $5 and for many accounts it is free.)
1. Advertise more
than one domain name.
2. Register common miss-spellings or variations of your domain name and
use a DNS Alias.
A DNS alias is
inexpensive or free. But it is not always the best solution.
It is not really a web server. So once you arrive at the "root"
web server and click on a link, the really web server URL will be
displayed. If you have to have a subdirectory as a home page you
must use redirection or another web server.
